SCLP issues Resolution for President-elect trump

Resolution of the South Carolina Libertarian Party

Acknowledging Donald J. Trump’s Election as the 47th President of the United States and Urging Adherence to Key Principles and Promises

WHEREAS Donald J. Trump has been duly elected as the 47th President of the United States;
WHEREAS the South Carolina Libertarian Party is committed to advancing the cause of liberty and individual rights, and we believe the President-elect has a unique opportunity to protect and restore these values;

BE IT RESOLVED that the South Carolina Libertarian Party congratulates President-elect Donald J. Trump on his election and calls upon him to honor his promises to the American people by taking the following actions:

1. Freeing Ross Ulbricht on Day One of his term, demonstrating a commitment to justice, mercy, and opposition to excessive sentencing in non-violent cases;

2. Protecting the Right to Buy and Sell Cryptocurrency as a currency—not subject to capital gains taxes—ensuring that Americans retain the freedom to engage in digital commerce without excessive interference, fostering innovation and financial independence;

3. Preventing the Creation of a Central Bank Digital Currency and any other attempts to reduce the financial freedom and privacy of the American people, or to expand the federal government’s control thereof;

4. Appointing a Libertarian to His Cabinet to bring diverse perspectives and support the cause of limited government and personal liberty at the highest levels of decision-making;

5. Upholding the First and Second Amendments, defending both freedom of speech and the right to bear arms, which are foundational to the preservation of individual liberty;

6. Extricating the United States from Foreign Proxy Wars, focusing instead on a foreign policy rooted in non-interventionism and diplomacy, to avoid the costly consequences—in both the lives and tax dollars of Americans—of entanglement in conflicts abroad;

FURTHER RESOLVED that we encourage the President-elect to avoid placing neoconservatives on his transition team and in his administration, and we urge him to refrain from appointing figures who have been associated with interventionist foreign policies;

FURTHER RESOLVED that we entreat the President-elect to embrace fiscal conservatism by reducing the size and scope of the federal government, cutting unnecessary and ineffective departments, and committing to only sign a balanced budget;

FINALLY, we urge President-elect Trump to appoint Congressman Thomas Massie as Secretary of Agriculture, recognizing his dedication to principles of limited government, constitutional adherence, and respect for individual rights.

The South Carolina Libertarian Party stands ready to support any initiatives that advance the cause of liberty, and we look forward to working with President Trump in the shared pursuit of a freer, more prosperous America.

Adopted this 9th day of November, 2024.

Signed,

South Carolina Libertarian Party
